The radiator in your Lincoln Town Car is a crucial component. If your radiator is not working properly, you could have serious engine problems. Here is why.
Fuel injectors place a measured amount of air and gasoline into each of the 4.6L V-8's cylinders. There, the spark plug ignites the gas/air mixture, creating a small explosion. These explosions in each cylinder, in turn, create energy that moves the cylinders. The motion of the cylinders turns the crankshaft, the crankshaft turns the drive shaft; the drive shaft, through the differential, turns the rear wheels.
So, where does the radiator come in? Those explosions in the cylinders, thousands per minute, produce a tremendous amount of heat. So much heat, in fact, that the accumulated effect would melt steel. The radiator's job is to remove that heat from the cylinders.
The water pump circulates coolant around the cylinders. When the coolant arrives in the radiator area, the radiator exposes it to air. The air removes the heat, and the water pump moves the coolant back through the engine as the cycle begins all over again.
The radiator in your Lincoln Town Car can't do the job if it is clogged, damaged or leaking. So for the protection of the investment you have in your Lincoln Town Car, and for the safety and well-being of you and your passengers, have a damaged radiator fixed or replaced promptly.
